September is the “wine” month for France as the vineyard owners all over the country collect their grapes for the new vintages. Apart from the wine and the  fine delicate cuisine France has more to offer to the travelers. In case you are in France in September there are a few things you can do:

For wine lovers the the annual marathon (pictured above) through the Médoc wine-making region of Bordeaux on 12 September is for them. The 42-kilometre course has 59 vineyard stops, although participants can drink water too! The theme of the 31st event, is “Le Marathon du Médoc se met sur son 31.”

If you like antiques you can find a  bargain at the annual flea market in Lille on the weekend of 5-6 September. There are more than 10,000 traders, who are selling everything from antiques to second-hand books. There is no limit to what you might find in the kiosks.

Festival du Cinéma Américain, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year at the glamorous resort of Deauville in Normandy. The event will be held from 4-13 September and is a must attend destination for film and tv fans will around the clock films.
