October in France means chocolate, wine and good food. This is the month of the food related exhibitions and therefore the only real destination for the lovers of good food, fine wines and great desserts.
Grape harvest in the Banyuls-sur-Mer. The Mediterranean small port is famous for its dessert wines. The 20th Fête desVendanges, being held from 7 to 11 October, involves
traditional fishing boats unloading the harvest directly on the beach. Visitors will have a chance to pick the vines and crush the grapes to make wine. There are more events like a seafood barbecue, a market selling local produce, concerts and a vendanges ball.
Chocolate lovers will have a chance to visit one of the worlds largest events dedicated to chocolate. The Porte de Versailles exhibition center in Paris from 28 October to 1 November will open for visitors to sample the latest flavors, attend cookery demonstrations and watch a show combining the talents of fashion designers and chocolatiers. This years new event will be a competition devoted to the art of chocolate.
The Foire Internationale et Gastronomique at the Parc des Expositions from 30 October to 11 November at the capital of Burgundy, Dijon, known for its food and wine is the real foodie destination. More than 200,000 visitors are expected at this year’s event to see up close 600 exhibitors showcasing the latest trends in a variety of sectors including food,drink and artisan crafts. Wine testing, and cookery demonstrations will be among the attractions.
